Mobile phones have become a crucial part of our daily life nowadays. Everyone from teenagers to old men has a personal cell phone of their own. But the mobile phones we see now didn’t look like this earlier, instead they were something totally different, something you wouldn’t even think of having around you or using. Improved technology has made a great change in the history of mobile phones, transforming the huge brick-like mobile phones of 1995 to sleek and stylish smartphone we carry with us now.
Currently when someone calling to another, receiver get only caller ID because network providers are providing only those details. But if we can have much more information like caller name, picture, caller’s city it will be very useful for us.
1. This can be done easily in Smartphones with the internet connection.
Such applications are still in the market. What they do is whenever a call is coming they check the number with their directories available online and brings the information about the caller. This method will be work on real time and no data is stored in the device.
Currently when someone calling, a receiver get only the caller ID and network providers are providing only those details. But if we can have much more information like caller name, picture, caller’s city it will be very useful for us. We can install an application that receives information from some source. So that both caller and receiver need to require access to that application and that online data sources and Using GPS they can share location information.
This is already in smart phones which having android/iOS Operating Systems (Google+, Facebook contact integration). For example in caller and receiver using same kind of application in their mobile phones and if both of them have maintained a profile and shared their information like name, TP number, picture using a social media (Google+, Facebook) or some other internet sources they can share calling information by letting the application automatically connect with their profile and send information.
But still it’s only of people however the user being interacted with not all the numbers. The drawbacks are concerned with Callers privacy – Callers name, Picture, location is shared to receiver. If wrong person had those details there may be privacy issues, users need to have smart phones and may need GPS and internet facilities in user’s phones.
2. A method which can use with the Normal Phones
Another solution may be network providers are maintaining a database with subscribers’ information like name, picture and etc. The idea is to whenever a call is coming the number is checked in the service providers’ database and network provides can send callers information to receiver as a push notice, coming with the call indicating caller details. The method can be done using AT codes.
Using network cell information, location can be identified and can be sent to receiver. It will be hard to implement picture details but still GSM phones may have basic details and 3G phones can support more features.
